Silas J. Lake - born Greenville, South Carolina on April 16, 1848, and moved to Freestone County, Texas as a child.

Silas served from January 1865 through May 1865 in 8th Texas Infantry Regiment, Co. I, until it disbanded on May 12, 1865. He had just turned 18 years old when the war ended.

It is reported that Mr. Lake's post-war occupations were rancher and gin operator at his farm in Palo Pinto County.

Silas Lake is the next to last surviving member of Stonewall Jackson Camp of UCV. Mr. Lake passed away February 26th, 1934, and was buried at Elwood Cemetery in the city of Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto county, Texas.
